- Community approach should be adopted at village level for the application of insecticides
- Use only recommended insecticides with recommended and time
- Avoid tank mixing and readymade insecticide mixtures
- Spray insecticides before 12.00 PM or in the evening
- Avoid using insecticides like acephate, pride and synthetic pyrethroids to minimize resurgence of whitefly
- Same insecticide should not be sprayed repeatedly
General Cautions
- Grow only recommended Bt cotton cultivars
- Prefer to grow desi cotton (arboreum) in the area
of high infestation of whitefly and leaf curl
- Complete the sowing from 1st April to 15th
May
- Apply recommended dose of fertilizers on soil test basis
- Follow the recommended row-to-row spacing is 67.5 cm and plant-to-plant
is 75 cm for Bt cotton
- Eradicate the weeds like kanghi buti, peeli buit, puthkanda,
makoh, growing on field bunds, waste land road side and irrigation
channel/canals to avoid further spread of whitefly to cotton fields
- Whitefly also attack other alternate host crops like brinjal,
potato, tomato, okra, moong, mash and guar. Regular surveillance
should be done from February onwards for timely management on
these crops
- Extensive monitoring for whitefly in the cotton fields grown
near the orchards
